Sha (from his middle name, Sharpe, and pronounced Shay) was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1968 and is a product of one the most rural areas in the country. He was raised in the small town of Brookhaven, Mississippi, just north of New Orleans and east of Natchez. He attended Brookhaven High School where his writing and storytelling talents developed, winning several creative writing awards before graduating in 1986.
Sha earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Mississippi State University in 1990. After a couple of years of extended study in the five-star waiter fields of Aspen and Maui, he returned to Mississippi and began a successful fourteen-year-career with the The Berry Company, (an AT&T company). From 2008 to 2016, Sha served as Chief Sales and Marketing officer for Hurst Review Services in Brookhaven. He earned his MBA from Millsaps College in 2017, as he co-founded Jumpstart Test Prep with legendary local educator, Dot McClendon.
Sha has been married 27 years, has two children, and still resides in the Brookhaven community. He has served as adjunct professor of business at Copiah Lincoln Junior College and past president of the Brookhaven Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member and past president of the Brookhaven Servitium Civic Club and is a congregant at Johnson Grove Church of Christ.
